Wise men do not argue with idiots. Japanese Proverb

In the same way that one would not expect a first grade student to understand physics or chemistry, you should not expect idiots to comprehend the way of the warrior. They have no more capacity to understand the complexities of honor or the benefits of virtue than a dog has to program your DVD player. These concepts are totally foreign to them. They just don’t understand the warrior lifestyle, and therefore should not be expected to carry on an intelligent conversation on the subject.

Oh, they will talk about the subject at length. They will talk as if they are the experts, not only on the subject of the warrior, but on virtually any other subject that may be brought up in the conversation. As the old saying goes, a fool talks because he has to say something; a wise man because he has something to say. There is a big difference between the two. Just as you could never explain to a summer insect the concept of snow, you will never be able to win an argument with people who do not think rationally.

It is wiser to just avoid the argument to start with and let them think what they will. Why should you care what they think? Their opinion, no matter how ridiculous, doesn’t affect you. Don’t waste your time arguing with these people. In fact, it is even wiser still, to not socialize with idiots. Call me “idiot intolerant,” I have been called that before, but I had rather spend my time with men of character and honor. Your time on this earth is short, use it wisely.
