FEELING WORSE, GETTING BETTER
One of the most dangerous – and unkind – myths we have inherited from our culture is that healing is always supposed to ‘feel good’. No, not always. Sometimes our pain actually increases and intensifies as the darkness emerges into the light, as previously unwanted material moves into consciousness, to be embraced. But the pain or discomfort we are so quick to judge as ‘bad’ or ‘wrong’ – or as some kind of ‘block’ to our awakening – may actually …indicate that our healing or awakening process is intensifying, not stalling; that nothing is actually going ‘wrong’, from the bigger perspective; that there is a great intelligence here, taking care of everything, being everything.
Trust yourself. Trust the shape that this moment takes, even if it is an unexpected shape. And above all, trust that sometimes you forget how to trust.
Feeling worse doesn’t always equate to getting worse.
Turn towards this moment, however much it hurts.
– Jeff Foster
